The order of energy gap in metal , semi conductor and insulators are :
Insulator > Semi conductor > metal .
Insulator has the largest energy gap which is more than 2 eV , in case of semi conductors it is 0.7 to 1.1 eV and in case of the metals it is , less than 0.5 eV .
