Open in App
Solution

The volume strength of the 1.5 N H2O2 solution:

Calculating the volume strength,

  • Strengthof1.5NH2O2=normality×equivalentweight(H2O2=17)
  • Strengthof1.5NH2O2=1.5×17
  • Strengthof1.5NH2O2=25.5

Here in this equation,

  • 2 moles of H2O2produce 1 mole of O2.
  • 1 mole of H2O2 has weight = 34
  • Therefore, mass of 2 moles of H2O2= 68g/mol
  • 68g/mol of H2O2 thus producing 1 mole which is exactly equal to 22.4Lof oxygen gas at NTP

So,thevolumestrengthwillbe,VolofO2atNTPmassofH2O2×strengthofH2O2

Volumestrength=22.468×25.5=8.4L

Hence,thevolumestrengthof1.5NH2O2solutionis8.4liter.
