What makes red blood cells red?

1. Red blood corpuscles are disc-shaped, anucleate cells that contain a pigment called haemoglobin inside.
2. Haemoglobin is responsible for the red colour of the blood. It also binds oxygen and carries it to the various parts of the body.

Thus, haemoglobin makes the red blood cells red.
