What type of oxides do metals form?

Metals react with Oxygen to form metal oxides.

Generally, Metallic oxides are basic in nature

1) Basic oxides (React with acids):

Examples:- $\mathrm{MgO},{\mathrm{Na}}_2\mathrm{O},\mathrm{CaO}\mathrm{etc}..$

2) Amphoteric oxides(React with both acids and bases)

Examples:-${\mathrm{Al}}_2{\mathrm{O}}_{3,}\mathrm{ZnO},\mathrm{PbO}\mathrm{etc}..$

Therefore metals form two types of oxides basic oxides and amphoteric oxides.
