  • Jyotiba Phule opposed casteism and criticised the Brahmins, therefore, he brought the people from the lower castes together to fight against the social inequalities that prevailed in Indian society.
  • He established the ‘Satya Shodhak Samaj’and helped the people from the lower class to develop courage and confidence among them.
  • Jyotiba Phule also promoted women's education and opened a school in Pune in 1857. He also supported the idea of widow remarriage.
