Jyotiba Phule opposed casteism and criticised the Brahmins, therefore, he brought the people from the lower castes together to fight against the social inequalities that prevailed in Indian society.
He established the ‘Satya Shodhak Samaj’and helped the people from the lower class to develop courage and confidence among them.
Jyotiba Phule also promoted women's education and opened a school in Pune in 1857. He also supported the idea of widow remarriage.
