Solution

The correct option is A Ag from Ag anode dissolves while Ag+ from solution gets deposited on the cathode.
The chemical equation for the electrolysis of AgNO3 is:

AgNO3Ag++NO3 (aqueous solution )
Reaction at cathode :

Ag+aq+eAg+; E0=+0.80V

2H2O(l)+2e2OH; E0=0.83V

Since reduction potential of Ag is higher than H2O, the Ag+ ions are reduced to Ag.

Reaction at anode :
AgAg+(aq)+e;Eo=0.80V

2H2OO2+4H++4e;E0=1.23V

Since the oxidation potential of Ag is higher than H2O, Ag of silver anode is oxidized. The potential of NO(3is lower than H2O.

Therefore, option A is the correct answer.
