Solution
TSH:
TSH refers to Thyroid-stimulating hormone.
The thyroid is a small gland near the throat that produces hormones.
It helps in regulating body weight, muscle strength, our mood.
TSH is secreted by the pituitary gland in coordination with the body’s thyroid level.
If thyroid levels are high more TSH is produced and if thyroid levels are low more TSH will be produced.
The level of TSH in the body directly indicates the functioning of the thyroid gland.
TSH levels can be measured through a blood test.
TSH levels in women:
In women, TSH levels may get disturbed during pregnancy, menstruation, or menopause due to fluctuating levels of estrogen in the body.
The normal TSH in healthy adult women is 0.5 to 5.0 mLU/L.
