Solution

The correct option is D 15 cm, 1647 cm3
Let the side of cube be 'a'. So, volume will be a3.
Increased side of the cube a' = a + 3. Hence the increased volume = a3+2457.
Increased volume of cube =
a3+2457=a3+27+9a(a+3)[(a+b)3=a3+b3+3aba+b)]2457=27+9a2+27a9a2+27a2430=0a2+3a270=0a2+18a15a270=0a(a+18)15(a+18)=0a=15cm
If the side was decreased by 20%, then side a=12cm. The corresponding volume will be 121212=1728 cu. cm
Decrease =151515121212=33751728=1647 cu. cm
