Which can exist independently - atoms or molecules?

Open in App
Solution

Atoms are the smallest entity of a matter.

Atoms of only some elements like noble gases are unreactive and can exist independently. For example, Neon (Ne), Argon (Ar)

Molecules are a group of two or more atoms that are bonded by chemical bonds. Molecules have the capability to exist independently. Gases like hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) are molecules and they exist independently.
