Gibberellin is the hormone which is used to increase sugarcane production. Gibberellins are atype of plant growth regulator (PGR).
Gibberellin stimulate cell elongation and cause plants to grow taller, causes fruits like apple to elongate and improve its shape. They also delay senescence. Spraying sugarcane crop with gibberellins increases the length of the stem, thus increasing the yield by as much as 20 tonnes per acre.
