The acceleration due to gravity at a depth ‘h’ below the earth surface.

$g^{'} = g [1 - \frac{h}{R_{e}}]$
$g^{'} = g - [\frac{g}{R_{e}}] h$
Compare this with straight line equation
y = c + mx

$m = \frac{- g}{R_{c}}$ -ve slope.
