• They can be straight chains, or branched chains having different properties.
• They provide energy for domestic and commercial purposes.
• They are colorless and have weak odors.
• Natural sources of it are ethylene, and isoprene from the emission of vegetables.
• Coals, oils, and natural gas are the sources of hydrocarbons.

• Crude oil
• Gasoline
• Diesel fuel
• Jet fuel
• Carbon black oil
