Why is the offspring of asexual reproduction a clone ?

Asexual reproduction:

1. Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction in which a single parent produces a new progeny.
2. The new progeny produced are genetically and physically identical to their parents, i.e., they are clones.
3. Both multicellular and unicellular species exhibit asexual reproduction.
4. A clone is a group of organisms that are genetically similar.
5. Sexually reproducing organisms gain genetic diversity by crossing over during meiosis and random fertilisation of male and female gametes.
