Question
Why one matter has different states
Open in App
Solution
Matter has different states such as solid, liquid, gas, plasma, fermions and bose-enistein condensates
These states are possible because of the varying inter particle force of attraction, inter particle space between them etc.
As the inter particle force of attraction increase, the state of the substance goes from gas to liquid to solid
As the inter particle space between the particles increase, the state of the substance goes from solid to liquid to gases.
The states of matter may also be defined in terms of transitions.
A phase transition indicates a change in the structure and can be recognized by an abrupt change in properties,
A distinct state of matter is one out of the set of states that can be distinguished from any other set of states by a phase transition.
