Why steam causes severe burn than boiling water?

Steam is more dangerous than boiling water because boiling water is liquid and steam is a gas. Steam has latent heat of vaporization. When steam comes in contact with human skin, first it will get converted to liquid water. In this process a lot of heat is released due to phase change causing severe burns.
Boiling water is also dangerous but there is no phase change, thus risk is lesser.
