Solution

Each point: 1 Mark

1.Iron + Water → Iron (II, III) oxide + hydrogen gas

The formation of iron(II, III) oxide and hydrogen when red hot iron interacts with steam.

When an iron metal interacts with steam, metal oxide and hydrogen gas are the products that are produced.

\({3}{Fe}{(s)}\) + \({4}{H}_{2}{O}{(g)}\) → \({Fe}_{3}{O}_{4}\) + \({4}{H}_{2}{(g)}\)

2.Calcium hydroxide and hydrogen gas are formed when calcium combines with cold water.

The chemical equation for calcium's reaction with water is as follows:

\({Ca}{(s)}\) + \({2}{H}_{2}{O}{(l)}\) → \({Ca}({O}{H})_{2}{(aq)}\) + \({H}_{2}{(g)}\)

3.Potassium interacts violently with cold water to generate potassium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.

The method generates so much heat that the hydrogen gas produced catches fire and burns quickly.

The chemical equation for potassium's reaction with water is as follows:

\({2}{K}{(s)}\) + \({2}{H}_{2}{O}{(l)}\) → \({2}{K}{O}{H}{(aq)}\) + \({H}_{2}{(g)}\)
