What are the characteristics of prokaryotic cell?

Prokaryotic cell:

Prokaryotic cell consists of a single cell having a simpler structure as compare to eukaryotic cell.

Characteristics of prokaryotic cell:

1. Nucleus and nuclear membrane are not present but it consists of nucleoid region.
2. Membrane-bound organelles (like Golgi complex, mitochondria,chloroplast etc.) are absent.
3. Prokaryotic cell is small in size ranging from 1 micrometre to 5 micrometers.
4. Cell wall of prokaryotic cells are complex in nature.
