Solution

Function of centromere

Centromere is the region which separates a chromatid into two arms. It is the site of the duplicated chromosome around which the kinetochore is present to attach to the microtubules of the spindle fibres. It helps in proper segregation of chromosomes.

Function of cell wall
  • Structural support and mechanical strength to the plant cell
  • Maintenance of shapes of the cells
  • Protection against mechanical damage
  • Protection against infections
  • Mediation of cell-to-cell interaction
  • Provision of barrier to undesirable macromolecules

Function of smooth ER
  • Synthesis of lipids and steroids
  • Drug detoxification

Function of golgi apparatus
  • Packaging of macromolecules to be secreted outside or at intracellular targets
  • Modification of secreted products like protein-modification after those are secreted by ribosomes present on ER
  • Site of formation of glycoprotein and glycolipids
Function of centrioles
  • Formation of spindle fibres (in animal cells) during cell division
  • Formation of basal body of cilia and flagella
