Solution

Part 1: Alkanes

  1. Alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons in which there is only a single bond between the Carbon atoms and Carbon and Hydrogen atoms.
  2. The general formula of an alkane is CnH2n+2, where, n is the number of carbon atoms.

Part 2: Alkenes

  1. A hydrocarbon in which two carbon atoms are bonded by a double bond is called alkenes.
  2. The general formula of alkene isCnH2n, where, n is the number of carbon atoms.

Part 3: Alkynes

  1. A saturated hydrocarbon in which two carbon atoms are bonded by a triple bond is called alkynes.
  2. The general formula of the alkyne is CnH2n-2, where, n is the number of carbon atoms.
