Write three advantages of vegetative propagation? [3 MARKS]

Vegetative propagation:

1. Vegetative propagation is an asexual method of plant reproduction that occurs in its leaves, roots and stem.
2. This can occur through fragmentation and regeneration of specific vegetative parts of plants.
3. Examples are cutting, grafting, layering, propagation by bulbs, stems, root tubers, leaf buds, etc.

Advantages of vegetative propagation:

1. It helps in the preservation of the characters of the plants through successive generations as the genetic character is same for the parent plant and offspring. ​
   
2. Seedless plants can be grown through vegetative reproduction through cutting and grafting methods and hence there is a higher probability of plant development.
   
3. It is a cheaper, easier and more rapid method of plant propagation.
