The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha was formed on 3rd Nov 1994 under the Odisha Education Act 1953, which was first published in an extraordinary issue of the Odisha Gazette, dated the 27th. Latest Update: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha has introduced a new weightage system for the Plus Two Students, owing to the reduced syllabus due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, and also to reduce the load of examinations. In this new system, the students will be assessed in two separate schemes for their Class 12 CHSE Board Exams. In one scheme, 80% weightage will be given to the performance in Annual H.S. Examination and 20% weightage will be given to the performance in Quarter End Examinations/Internal Exams. In the other scheme, the performance of the students on their Annual H.S. Examinations will only be considered, i.e., 100% weightage will be given to their performance in Annual H.S. Examination. The final marks of the students will be calculated based on which scheme will offer the maximum marks to the students, i.e., the highest marks will be considered.
The board is an autonomous government body and take charge of all the schools which are affiliated to it. The Odisha board designed the course curriculum with the aim of providing quality education to the students so that they get equipped for further graduation courses and occupations.
