Marking Scheme for CAT 2017 Question Paper
There were 100 questions in total and each question carried 3 marks. For every incorrect answer there was a deduction of -1 mark. In the case of TITA questions, there was no negative marking.
CAT 2017 Question Paper Analysis:
QA and VARC had many easy and doable questions. The VARC section did not include any complex questions. Questions from geometry, arithmetic, and algebra dominated the QA section. Both slots contained eight TITA questions. In the CAT 2017 paper, the DILR section was the toughest. CAT 2017 Question Paper Slot 1
Reading Comprehension included three passages that each contained six questions, and two passages that each contained three questions. In spite of the simplicity of the passages, the choices seemed to be challenging.The volume of data and text in DILR seemed lengthy and complicated to read. The difficulty level of QA was lower than that of CAT 2016. QA consisted of 34 questions, 16 of which were MCQs while the rest were non-MCQs.
CAT 2017 Question Paper Slot 2
There was a similar distribution of questions among the three sections as in slot 1. The difficulty level of slot 2 was a bit more tricky. There were 5 passages in Reading Comprehension grouped into various topics as in slot one. DILR was again the toughest section in slot 2. Compared to the previous year, the level of difficulty for QA was moderate.
