UPSC Vacancy 2020

UPSC Vacancy 2022 has increased from 861 to 1011 due to a notice released by the Union Public Service Commission dated 17th February 2022. The increase in vacancies is because Government has decided to recruit 150 personnel in the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Group ‘A’ through the Civil Services Examination – 2022.

On 17th February 2022, it was notified that IRMS, Group ‘A’ would be included in the list of UPSC Posts, which was discontinued in 2019 by the commission. The commission had announced a total of 861 vacancies at the time of the release of official notification 2022.  The announcement had come after UPSC Notification 2022 was released on 2nd February 2022. 

In comparison to 2021, the count of UPSC 2022 vacancy is 299 more than the 2021 recruitment. A total of 712 vacancies were notified for IAS 2021. 

UPSC vacancy varies with the requirement raised by different ministries. The final number of vacancies for the UPSC exam 2022 may undergo change after getting a firm number of vacancies from Cadre Controlling Authorities.

UPSC releases reserved vacancies each year for people with disabilities in the following categories:

(a) Blindness and low vision

(b) Deaf and hard of hearing

(c) Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy (cured), dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy

(e) Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness.

UPSC CSE Vacancy 2022

According to the official update released on 17th February 2022, the number of UPSC CSE vacancy 2022 increased from 861 to 1011. These vacancies are to be recruited through the Civil Services Examination, 2022. An additional 150 vacancies were notified to recruit personnel in the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Group ‘A’ service. • Out of the 150 vacancies in IRMS, 06 vacancies have been reserved for the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD).

Out of the 861 UPSC vacancy 2022, 34 vacancies are reserved for the  Persons with Benchmark Disability:

• 7 vacancies for candidates of (a) blindness and low vision
• 11 vacancies for (b) deaf and hard of hearing
• 8 vacancies for (c) locomotor disability
• 8 vacancies for (e) person with multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness

UPSC CSE Vacancy 2021

Out of 712 UPSC Vacancy 2021, 22 vacancies are for the Persons with Benchmark Disability Category:

• 5 vacancies for candidates of blindness and low vision
• 6 vacancies for deaf and hard of hearing
• 6 vacancies for locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy, and
• 5 vacancies for multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness.

UPSC CSE Vacancy 2020

Out of 796 UPSC Vacancy 2020, 24 vacancies are for the Persons with Benchmark Disability Category.  i.e. 

• 3 vacancies for candidates of blindness and low vision
• 9 vacancies for deaf and hard of hearing
• 8 vacancies for locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy, and
• 4 vacancies for multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness.

Note – In 2019, the government had decided to discontinue the inclusion of the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Group ‘A’ and decided to conduct this exam through the engineering services exam.

The vacancies are an approximate number and the UPSC takes the final decision during the merit ranking to recruit the final number of officers. This is based on the final number given by the respective authorities controlling each cadre.

Reservation for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, EWS and People with Benchmark Disability varies based on government decisions.
